RPT Europe?

Hi

I am struggling to choose between qualifications, so I hope someone will be able to help!

I am currently a DCA qualified coach and now looking for the next qualification to further my education/level. Can anyone please give advice regarding the RPT Europe (European Professional) and whether this would be a good qualification to attain? I am hoping in the future to coach in Spain so my thinking is, that this would be the better qualification for me? Final question is, can I demand an increased hourly rate after gaining the advanced RPT qualification?

I find it absolutely incredible that statements concerning coaches can be made, when the coaches are not even asked about their role in the community.

I am both LTA licenced and PTR qualified and keep right up to date with Trends in tennis around the world. I coach over 100 kids and adults each week, continually bringing new people into the game, and this summer introduced 160 new juniors into tennis at local schools.

If the LTA are going to make broad statements concerning the coaches of this country, then they should at least survey those involved tp find out the facts.

I have a website and publish a tennis newsletter which has subscribers all over the world - who appreciate my expertise.

We are making a difference - it is not only 'all about winning'.

Lets not get on the back of the current administration because of the lack of depth in the mens game - they have had three years, not long enough to make any sort of difference.

Technically superior

I have taken both the dca and the mark of a pro and have to say that the rpt course was technically superior.
my only concern was that the quality of some of those who passed the rpt course-i am sure they would not have got through the dca and personally feel they were not of a 'good' standard to let loose on the public as a qualified coach.
having said that, theyw ill still go out coaching better equipped because of the rpt than if they had done the dca

Fewer Courses!

An interesting topic! Lets look at the facts - the lta set up a scheme to licence coaches, require them to gain credits, and then offer fewer and fewer courses for coaches to obtain these credits!!!!

Isnt it time they stopped trying to run schemes where they are clearly unfit to do so?

New CC Qualification

Just been on the new coach qualification upgrade course with the LTA and it was a huge improvement on their old dca, looks like someone has finally realised that it might be an idea to train coaches in the modern game rather than from the fred perry era.

only gripe - the exhorbitant costs of lta training. when you remind yourself that they are the governing body, get millions from the government, wimbie, sponsors, and they tell us we are the important people in tennis, how can they justify the charges they are making???

Training Restructuring

Training events have been run by Mike Lynch and the National Office for the past year during which time the feedback from members on the quality and quantity of the courses on offer has been very positive.

The Board are keen to ensure that more support is given to Mike and the national office and are also keen to see Board members more involved in the running of the organisation.

The Board have therefore formed a new Training sub-committee that will take control of the training function of tenniscoachUK with immediate effect and enable Mike more time to concentrate on other key aspects of his role as Chief Executive.

Poaching is alive and well at LTA centres

what other industry would allow one business to compete unfairly with another, just because they have more money??? thats what is happening in the nw with the lta performance centres poaching players from the rest of us!

lets be clear - they DONT have the best coaches working at their centres!!!

The talent id people are blatently poaching players for their favoured centres/coaches and its a scandal.

btca should be doing more about this, goiod to see the recent letter in the mag but not enough if they want us coaches to believe they really represent us!!!
